A Brief History of Clan MacRae

The MacRae clan motto is "Fortitudine" (with fortitude). The clan’s territory is in Kintail, where they hold the famous Eileen Donan castle.

The MacRaes are known to have been constant supporters of the Clan Mackenzie and are said to share common Irish ancestry with them.

The clan had a strong reputation of being warriors earning them the nickname the “Wild MacCraes”.

The MacRae tartan has a variation for every occasion. The jewel toned, green and blue varieties are most common but you could also opt for MacRae tartans with red, white or brown as its main colour.
